Shepshed Running Club

- Shepshed Running Club was founded in 1983 by local runners and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2008. Originally the Club members ran mainly road races, but now we also belong to a cross country league, do fell racing, orienteering and other off road events. If you want to try any particular type of event, there is usually an existing club member who can give guidance.
We organised a 10K race for many years, but a new 7 mile traffic free race was started in 2001. The race run on the first Sunday in November is extremely popular and usually oversubscribed. This year's (2008) race winners out of a field of 425 finishers were: James Douglas 37:22 and Gemma Steel 41:49. The Club is always keen to enrol new members and we have a wide range of abilities. The main club night is on a Tuesday evening at 7pm from our hut at Shepshed High School (behind the swimming pool). However, other club runs are organised, usually on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. For further details, email: info@shepshedrc.org.uk
