Shepshed Running Club was founded in 1983 by local runners and in 2013 celebrated its 30th anniversary.
The Club is always keen to enrol new members and we welcome all abilities ranging from social runners to serious racers. The main club night is on a Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm meeting in our hut at Shepshed High School (LE12 9DA) behind the swimming pool. For details of how to find us click here.
Other club runs are organised, usually on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings; including a session aimed at beginners at 7:00 pm on Thursdays, meeting in the school car park (by the swimming pool). These sessions are no more than 3 miles or 30 minutes at pace comfortable for all.
The club participates in many local runs and races including the Derby Runner Cross Country and Leicestershire Road Running Leagues. Our runners also take part is a wide variety of events including fell racing, orienteering and other off road events. If you want to try any particular type of event, there is usually an existing club member who can give guidance.
We organise and host the Shepshed 7 – a 7 mile traffic free race. The race, run on the first Sunday in November since 2001, is extremely popular and usually oversubscribed.
This year's (2015) race winners out of a field of 491 finishers were: Stuart Spencer 36:58 and Juliet Potter 41:29.
